In  2008  Vestas invested $1 billion to establish four manufacturing factories in Colorado to serve the North American wind market – the second largest wind market in the world.

Today Vestas is the number one turbine manufacturer in the United States and the world.   Each turbine produced at a Vestas factory supports an average of 30 full-time jobs over the course of its lifetime.

In 2017 Vestas spent $1.4 billion across its U.S. supply chain, including $141 million in Colorado, to build turbines for the North American market.

That $1.4 billion is spent with nearly 1,800 U.S. based companies, including 474 Colorado companies – money spent and consumed in the state – to produce over 1,000 turbines shipped from its four turbine factories.

Components from Vestas’ four factories are used primarily in North America, as well as being exported to Mexico, Uruguay, Brazil and Europe.

Vestas employs approximately 6,000 people in North America, including 3,500 people in Colorado. The vast majority of Vestas’ Colorado workforce in Pueblo, Brighton, and Windsor come from the surrounding communities.
