Congratulations to Basalite Concrete Products on the grand opening of their brand new state-of-the-art production and distribution facility in Fort Lupton, CO. The facility is 189,000 sq feet sitting on 60.9 acres, which was fully developed on a build-to-suit site. Development of the site included the construction of a mile-long stretch of S Rallie Ave, connecting 8th St and 10th St just east of Hwy 85. The facility supports 60 relocated jobs and the growth of 10 new jobs. The initial investment totaled $55.7M with an anticipated investment of $17.5M in the near future.
Basalite partnered with Besser, Quadra, and Pathfinder Systems to build their innovative and automated operation. It is the first concrete production plant in the United States to operate Quadra’s automated robotic technology.
Basalite mentioned several reasons they chose to locate in Northern Colorado when considering sites for their expansion and relocation. First, the Fort Lupton location created ease of access to their raw materials supply chain, sourcing much of their aggregate locally. Second, they attributed the friendly environment of the local community along with the quick turnaround and friendly city staff in Fort Lupton. Finally and most importantly, Weld County offered support for Basalite to obtain needed water rights.
Senator Bennet’s office also played a critical role in providing support for the build-out during the pandemic when international borders were closed.
The construction and manufacturing industry sectors are strong economic drivers in Northern Colorado, providing more than 37,000 jobs combined across 1,300 establishments. View our Weld County Economic and Demographic Profile for more on the region.
Basalite made two contributions to the local community, supporting St. William’s Church and Dream on 3 through financial donations at their grand opening event.
